Interracial Sex Havoc #11: 1996 – 1997

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is a reviews selection of films that contain at least one interracial sex scene. I am focusing on regular films (both independent and major studios productions), but select adult films are also included. The present chapter is about movies released from 1996 to 1997. I reviewed many goodies, including a Jon Voight film and a Russell Crowe flick. So, enjoy!

Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996)

Ashtray [Shawn Wayans from White Chicks (2004)] lives in the hood but he doesn’t like the violence and poverty that comes with it and he wants to fall in love and move away. He meets Dashiki [Tracey Cherelle Jones from Baby Boy (2001)] who is a psychotic single mother with 7 kids that seem to be from many ex-boyfriends. There is also a black activist who is has sex with a white girl or two but we see none of that; it is implied though as a shot of a moving vehicle suggests intercourse.

This is essentially a parody of all the “hood” movies that were popular in the mid-‘90s and although it is insanely hilarious as a satire (benefiting by exaggerating stereotypes), it also works as a genuine comedy. This is because director Paris Barclay [who you may know from his TV work] throws everything in and it somehow manages to stick successfully. It was budgeted at $3.8 million and it grossed more than $20 million which means that audiences liked it too.

Interracial Sex Havoc #10: 1991 – 1995

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is a reviews selection of films that contain at least one interracial sex scene. I am focusing on regular films (both independent and major studios’ productions), but select adult films are also included (there are tens of thousands of interracial sex scenes out there so it is impossible for one person to watch all of them – although I suspect that I’ve seen more than any sane person on earth). The present chapter is about movies released from 1991 to 1995. Many goodies are presented, including an Oliver Stone film and an Al Pacino flick. So, enjoy what is the present column’s longest chapter yet!

Introduction on Categorizing

Each month when I’m trying to make a choice of what interracial adult films I will include in my research, I find it peculiar that it is so easy to sort out what porn you want to watch with lists that divide the scenes in looks, ethnicities, sex acts, and whatnot. One would say that this is almost offensive. Then, I thought of what that is: Categorizing. And I thought of how useful this is with regular films. Because, simply put, when I browse the internet looking for a film, I like categorization. When I want to see horror, I want the rest of the stuff to be put aside. Heck, categorization goes back to Aristotle! I came to the conclusion that categorization is abusive only on dating sites and social media. I find it really cruel that corporations thought that we need to divide people by whatever means. Because, let’s face it, when you like or dislike someone, all those “options” are irrelevant.

The Reviews

Jungle Fever (1991)

A black man [Wesley Snipes, around the same time he was in King of New York (1990)] is happily married to a mixed race woman [Lonette McKee from Men of Honor (2000)] but he will soon find himself to a relationship with his white secretary [Annabella Sciorra from Cop Land (1997)].

What starts out as a film about sexual relationships (interracial ones at that), it then becomes much more; to be precise, a social commentary unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Writer/director Spike Lee delivered the most important ‘90s film on the subject, and it deservedly won several awards the world over. It is hands down the best film in the present list.

The cast is impressive too and it also includes Samuel Jackson [shortly after he did Def by Temptation (1990)], Halle Berry [almost a decade before X-Men (2000)], Tim Robbins [The Shawshank Redemption (1994)], and Anthony Quinn.

In Loving Color 1 (1992)

This is the porn parody of the same-titled Keenen Ivory Wayans TV show (1990 – 1994) which I have not seen. It consists of five sketches that don’t run for more than 20 minutes each (all divided by the same ‘spot’ that is repeated again and again), but still they feel lengthy.

Interracial Sex Havoc #9: 1985 – 1990

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is a reviews selection of films that contain at least one interracial sex scene. The present chapter is about movies released from 1985 to 1990. Many goodies are presented, including a Dennis Hopper film and a flick with Mickey Rourke. So, enjoy!

Foreword on Compilations

For this Interracial Sex Havoc instalment I had to ignore the Afro Erotica film series that (from 1986 to 1989) produced 33 volumes, and the Black Ass, White Gash film series that I believe it produced 10 volumes, because although they are both very important compilations of ethnic pornography and among the first too, these videos were still a patchwork of unrelated sex scenes and no matter how hot many of them are (some of them coming from classics of the era) there is really not much you can write about plot-less intercourse sessions. The bottom line is that I will try to avoid compilations as much as possible.

Irrelevant Introduction

Up to around 1988 (roughly the end of the golden age of porn), movies usually portrayed interracial sex as something exotic. From around 1988 onwards things changed a bit and usually interracial sex worked as a vehicle for fetishsized racism. Some subgenres of porn do that with several subjects, including rape. Racism and rape are undeniably the greatest evils in this world. They are occasionally eroticized in some porn subgenres, but I don’t think that we should make quick conclusions of the films that do that (or any film). After all, adult films work as a fantasy (no matter how realistic) and contrary to prostitution they actually keep perverts off the streets when they offer them harmless orgasms through masturbation. Rape and racism are cultural problems that society needs to solve with education and other means, but to ignore them by simply banning them on film is outright stupid.

Another problem with porn from around 1989 to 2009 is (in most cases) the lack of story. The rise of the so called gonzo porn killed storytelling. This seems to be changing the last few years with the introduction of genres such as the staged casting videos and those work solely because we the audience get introduced to the performers. Sure, most of what the performers say is bullshit, but a character development of sorts takes form there. This works as a masturbation material because it is absolutely vital to know a thing or two about the performers even if that is only a fake name and a fake date of birth. It looks like the ‘amateur’ genre won’t go away any time soon, but it also seems that many people are now bored of seeing people portrayed as fuck meat. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely find many ‘amateur’ videos to be very hot, but as a reviewer I find it impossible to write an article about two (or more) people fucking in a room.

Another thing I noticed is that although the adult film industry was always producing comedies, somewhere around the late ‘80s parodies and self-mockery themes became very frequent. And it has been said by various theorists that when one film movement stops taking itself seriously then it is dead. Well, porn proved this argument to be wrong.

The Reviews

Angel Heart (1987)

The beginning of this film is set in New York in 1955 where Louis Cyphre [Robert De Niro who around the same time was also in The Untouchables (1987)] delegates private detective Harry Angel [Mickey Rourke fresh off 9 ½ Weeks (1986)] to find singer Johnny Favourite.

Harry goes on a mission in Louisiana (which is very stereotypically portrayed as uncivilized) where dead bodies start piling up around the hunt for Johnny. It is there that he will meet underage mother Epiphany Proudfoot [Lisa Bonet from High Fidelity (2000)] and between them the sole interracial sex scene will happen. It is a very interesting scene which is pivotal to the plot and gorgeous to look at with its use of the small space that a single room is providing and with the rain that comes through the ceiling and later becomes blood which is showering the couple.

There is a twist ending to the film, which nowadays may seem very obvious, but back then it was quite original as nobody in the audience was so well trained to such surprises. Also, the names given to the characters are a bit stupid and obvious. This being a neo-noir, the main character is smoking cigarettes throughout the entire running time which makes you want to take a puff too. This is in my opinion the greatest film by director Alan Parker [Pink Floyd The Wall (1982)].

Interracial Sex Havoc #8: 1980 - 1984

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is trying to catalog as many films as possible that contain at least one interracial sex scene. Not all films included here are pornographic, but they had to have at least one interracial sex scene in order to qualify. This chapter is about movies released from 1980 to 1984 and I present you a couple of musicals (one soft-core and one hardcore). So, enjoy!

Divine Emanuelle (1981)

I’m a big fan of Black Emanuelle, and I even published a short article covering most of them with short reviews (I don’t provide you with a link here because it’s in Greek). These were so successful that many other (mostly and usually) unrelated films featuring Laura Gemser were released or (mainly) re-released using the franchise’s name, which was an Emmanuelle rip-off to begin with anyway. That was pretty much the same story with the Django title. Such is also the case with the present film.

US Senator Benneman [Bob Burrows in his last film part] is landing in Cyprus along with his beautiful daughter [Simone Brahmann from La via della prostituzione (1978)]. Very soon she comes across and charmed by Dorian [writer/producer/composer/director Christian Anders] who is the leader of Children of Light, which is a hippie cult that resides at Camp of Love.

The people of this cult are preaching love, but they make their money by having their female members turning tricks for the locals. They call the money they receive “donations”, but last time I checked this is pretty much the same with a whorehouse. Well, I saw that coming because very early on in the film there is a shot of some old guy swearing anti-gay crap in Greek. Homophobia and misogynist horse-shit usually go together.

Interracial Sex Havoc #7: 1979

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is trying to catalog as many films as possible that contain at least one interracial sex scene. Not all films included here are pornographic, but they had to have at least one interracial sex scene in order to qualify. This chapter is about movies released in 1979 and I wrote about a Donald Pleasence film, and a Russ Meyer flick. So, enjoy!

Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff (1979)

This story takes place in Kansas, 1954, and it is about the title’s young white woman [Anne Heywood from The Nun of Monza (1969)] who is a teacher; a great one at that. She is also very supportive of the rights of the black community. But one day, a young black man [John Lafayette from Jackie Brown (1997)] rapes her. She is shocked of course, but the next time she sees him, she starts wanting him and they have passionate sex. Then another time he is forcing her to kneel down and beg him for his services. Soon the couple will get caught by two white students and the affair will become public. The next day the young teacher finds a piece of paper glued on the classroom’s door, saying Miss Wyckoff Fucks N...

This is a social drama directed by Marvin Chomsky, and if it wasn’t for the generous amounts of nudity it offers, it would seem more like a TV movie rather than the art-house film it wants to be.  There are many interesting comments about race prejudice to be found here, but the whole thing is utterly boring as most of it takes place in interiors where actors talk. But I had to buy it because both Robert Vaughn and Donald Pleasence play doctors; the later simply sitting on a chair talking.

Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens (1979)

The second movie in this chapter is the more entertaining of the pair and it was made by true auteur Russ Meyer (who produced, shot, cut, and directed it, and he even co-wrote it with Roger Ebert). It is a collage of sketches as usual, mainly involving Kitten Natividad (such an angelic face).

A piano player [Henry Rowland from Supervixens (1975)] is listening to a song from Germany’s Nazi era, then wears a Ku-Klux-Klan like uniform, and has sex in a coffin; another man is taking a crap, but his friend is collecting the shit with a shovel and throws it away without being seen, and then the first man says “no shit”; and even the narrator is seeing his son fucking his wife. What is of interest to ISH readers is the plenty of interracial sex scenes involving a fat black woman and several white men.
There are so many shots here, excellently photographed, and cut to the tempo of a machine gun at war, but you are here for the big tits, right? Plenty you’ll get...

Interracial Sex Havoc #6: 1978

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is trying to catalog as many films as possible that contain at least one interracial sex scene. Not all films included here are pornographic, but they had to have at least one interracial sex scene in order to qualify.

This chapter is about movies released in 1978 and I wrote about golden age porn [one film by Alex deRenzy], and a Joe D’Amato sleaze-fest. So, enjoy!

Pretty Peaches (1978)
The title’s girl [Desiree Cousteau from Caged Heat (1974)] is wearing red t-shirt and matching shorts (so short that half her ass cheeks are out for everyone to see at the car service parlour she stopped for a while) on her way to her father’s wedding to a black woman [Flower]. After some gambling (it’s a proper Las Vegas ceremony after all) and some shots of alcohol, she leaves, driving her fancy jeep. But she loses control of the vehicle and crashes on a tree. She gets out of the car and falls on the ground unconscious. Two opportunists find her and rape her. When she wakes up properly, she realized that she has amnesia. Her journey to remember her name begins and the trio drives to San Francisco.
Peaches is soon introduced to a bogus doctor/friend of the rapists, who places a paper bag on her head and tries to perform oral sex to her, she refuses, but she happily proceeds to some anal play which ends up with some impressive ass squirting.

Interracial Sex Havoc Part #4: 1976

We continue our journey through interracial sex in the movies, and this time we’ll take a look at films from 1976. Not all films included here are pornographic, but they had to have at least one interracial sex scene in order to qualify. For this chapter I wrote about plenty of golden age porn [a couple featuring John Holmes], a horror/porn hybrid, a musical/porn hybrid, a Martin Scorsese masterpiece, and more. So, enjoy!

Honey Pie (1976)
The beginning credits’ sketches bring to mind the sleaze paperbacks of the era. This film was directed by Howard Ziehm.
The first scene consists of a girl and a guy having sex in the morning. A bit later the girl leaves, inserts a vibrator in her vagina and takes a ride with a taxi. The taxi driver thinks that there’s something wrong with his fare meter, but in reality he’s listening to the noisy vibrator.
The second sex scene happens between an M.I.L.F. and a young guy. And the third scene is a lesbian one.
Out in the woods, two friends see a married woman, one of them says “Watch what you’re doing” and the other replies “I’d like to do what I’m watching”, and so they decide to do her. She’s open for some double penetration and she’s the hottest person in this movie [Terri Hall].
In the fourth scene, two journalists (one guy and one girl) fuck in the office. The last scene is a BDSM one, in which a white girl is used by a black guy and another white girl. There are many toys used in this one, such as a vibrator, nipple clips, and chains.

Interracial Sex Havoc #5: 1977

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is trying to catalog as many films as possible that contain at least one interracial sex scene. Not all films included here are pornographic, but they had to have at least one interracial sex scene in order to qualify. If you are a publishing house with an interest for genre films then please contact Cinema Head Cheese, as I would love to see this project in book form.

This chapter is about movies released in 1977 and I wrote about plenty of golden age porn [including a couple starring Jamie Gillis], a John Waters classic, a Joe D’Amato masterpiece, and more. So, enjoy!

Desperate Living (1977)
This film is about a woman who is mental, and which’s alcoholic and kleptomaniac psychiatric nurse kills the former’s husband with her fat ass (it is used as an asphyxiation tool and I’m not making this up). After this incident they go on the run as fugitives and first they hit a dead dog, and then they meet a cop in lingerie (don’t ask). The real story starts when they end up in a white trash motel. I don’t know how to explain this; it’s not really a movie, it’s chaos on celluloid. My favorite sequence had an androgynous woman demanding immediate sex change, and not long after she gets it she’s castrating herself and her dick is thrown to a dog which is sniffing the thing! Again, don’t ask…
The sole interracial sex scene of interest is a lesbian one, but you really need to see this film for the priceless dialogues. Being a fan of Lloyd Kaufman, many people have told me over the years that I will enjoy the films of writer/director John Waters, but I always hesitated to step into this madman’s world. Now I did, and I honestly confess that I did not like it. I appreciate what he does for genre movies; all the good things he’s been writing for ages, and making people aware of lost gems, and he seems like a great guy in interviews and such, but I just didn’t like this film.

Interracial Sex Havoc #12: 1998

The Interracial Sex Havoc project is a selection of reviews of films that contain at least one interracial sex scene. I am focusing on regular flicks (both independent and major studios productions), but select adult movies are also included. The present chapter is about pictures released in 1998. I reviewed many goodies, including a Spike Lee film and a Lodge Kerrigan one. So, enjoy!

He Got Game (1998)

Jake [Denzel Washington, approximately a decade before American Gangster (2007)] accidentally killed his wife [Lonette McKee from Men of Honor (2000)] and for the past six years he’s doing time at Attica Correctional Facility. He is approached by Warden Wyatt [Ned Beatty from Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)] who has some political connections that demand the inmate to pursue his son [Ray Allen] to sign to a particular college in order to become America’s next NBA star. If he manages to do that, his sentence will be reduced.

Jake, while on this short ‘work release program’ (as he is referring to the situation) he meets an abused hooker [Milla Jovovich, a good four years before Resident Evil (2002)] and they form a relationship of sorts (it could be explored more, but it did not, assumingly because that would forbiddingly stretch the already lengthy running time) and together they provide an attempt at an interracial sex scene.

Of further interest to this column’s regular readers will be Jesus (Jake’s son) sexual adventures which include fucking his girlfriend [Rosario Dawson, some nine years before Grindhouse (2007)] in an amusement park, and participating in a threesome with two lusty college girls [adult film superstars Chasey Lain and Jill Kelly] which is actually pivotal to the plot as it is part of a long string of scenes that show how this young man with a bag full of dreams gets tempted in all sorts of ways by people who want to gain things from his future. Unfortunately, it can be said that women in this film are often portrayed as a danger. There is also a dream/fantasy sequence with a lot of sex (and a lot of it is of interracial nature).
