TV Review: American Horror Story: Asylum (Blu-ray, 2012)
Genre based Television shows really seemed to make a push for audiences wanting horror, sci-fi and fantasy in the comfort of their own homes during the late 50's with shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, Night Gallery and of course Rod Serling's masterful series The Twilight Zone. Presently some of of the top shows on TV are - at least for this horror fan - are well produced, acted and written genre shows. Along with The Walking Dead, one of the best more recent shows is FX's superb American Horror Story.Much like The Walking Dead, American Horror Story stretches newtork censors to the the limit with it's very adult horror that would put even pay networks on their heels. Could we have it any other way?? No way! Now with the third season on the horizon, the second season will be making it's debut on Blu-ray, and while it changes things up a bit by getting away from the story of the Harmon family, something creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk wanted to do from the beginning American Horror Story: Asylum loses none its power to disturb and frighten.

TV on Blu-ray Review: The Walking Dead - Season Two (2011)
When Robert Kirkman unleashed The Walking Dead on the comic book world a few years back, possibly the last thing on his mind had to be that it would be one of the most popular shows (on American Movie Classics of all places). Well, it is even with some imperfections, this thrilling story of a group of survivors battling a zombie apocalypse was easily granted another season to continue the creepiness.Director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist) was a big cog in The Walking Dead, unfortunately (to many fans, including this one) he was replaced in the director’s chair. Did it help or hurt the fine series? You can now see whether it did or not as it’s being released on to Blu-ray and DVD by Anchor Bay and AMC.

TV on Blu-ray Review: Hell on Wheels: Complete First Season (2011)
Since the advent of film and TV as a popular forms media, one of the most popular genres used as storylines for features, shorts and episodic television was the Western. In film early on you had John Ford (My Darling Clementine), later there was John Wayne's films captivating audiences and then of course the popularity of the gritty, more true-to-western-life classics from Sergio Leone(Fistful of Dollars and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) and Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch). Television took its cue from Hollywood by producing popular shows like Bonanza and The Lone Ranger. It wasn't until the mid 80's that film and TV fans seemed to just get bored of the genre.November 8, 2011

TV on DVD Review: The Walking Dead (2011, Blu-ray, Anchor Bay/AMC)
Over the past ten years we've seen an influx of zombie movies. Almost an epidemic of poor quality, horribly written garbage that's been an embarrassment to what George Romero essentially created 40 plus years-ago with Night of The Living Dead. Even Romero has himself sunk into the cesspool of bad zombie movie-making. Have you seen Diary of the Dead or Survival of the Dead? I really thought there was no hope for a while until I got to experience the visceral rollercoaster that is, Frank Darabont's surprise hit of 2010, The Walking Dead.Buy The Walking Dead Season 1 on DVD
Originally broadcasted on AMC - of all channels - Anchor Bay has put together a two-disc Blu-ray set of this amazing epic horror series that's sure to please anyone who followed the show when it was on TV. Based on Robert Kirkman's popular comic of the same name, The Walking Dead stays fairly close to Romero's films.: Get bitten , you turn into a zombie and to kill them they need a good blast to the cabesa. The Walking Dead as a whole is almost what the mediocre Land of the Dead could have been. Much of it, like "Land" takes place in the city , though unlike that film there are just a handful of survivors trying to avoid being torn to pieces by zombies.
