Cross Bearer & The Cemetery kick ass and take names at Pollygrind!

The production team behind the Adam Ahlbrandt double feature Buried In Flesh (Cross Bearer, a gritty arthouse slasher, and The Cemetery, an ultra-violent possession tale) is pleased to announce its U.S. premiere at Pollygrind Film Festival has been awarded Best Horror Movie (The Cemetery). Also taken home was Best Use of Blood/Gore (The Cemetery), the Director’s Showcase Award to Ahlbrandt for his accomplishments with Buried In Flesh, and the Newcomer Award to lead actress Natalie Jean for her performances in both features.

Jean and Ahlbrandt, along with SPFX director Doug Sakmann co-produced the duo and spent the bulk of 2013 traveling cross-country to fests and conventions, ultimately growing a support system within the horror, underground, and art community. Commendatory reviews from Horrorhound Magazine, Rue Morgue, Horror Society, Wicked Channel, Decibal Magazine, Lloyd Kaufmann, Film Threat, Horror Happens Radio Show, Cinema Head Cheese, and a number of underground bloggers, critics, and podcasts preceeded the offical Buried In Flesh premiere (in part by the support of Pollygrind founder Chad Clinton Freeman). Previous nods to the features include Best Feature (The Cemetery, Portage International Film Festival), Best Actress (Natalie Jean, Portage International Film Festival), Director’s Choice Award (The Cemetery, Chicago Horror Film Festival), The Five Must-See Films of Pollyrind (Buried In Flesh, Vegas Seven), The Top Five Indie Films of 2012 (Cross Bearer, Rue Morgue), The 25 Best Horror Features of 2012 (Cross Bearer, Horror Society), Top 33 Extremely Dangerous and Disturbing Films of the Last 10 Years (Cross Bearer, Jay Horror Happens Kay).Though different in tone and style each is fraught with filth, gore, and a surprising amount of heart (both literally and metaphorically), and are complimented by Ahlbrandt’s praised cinematic eye. The films will first be available early next year through German distributor Illusions Unltd. Ahlbrandt and his team are currently in discussions with several distributors and seek to have a US release within the same time frame.

Horror fans can meet Miss Jean AND get a final sneak preview of both features at the JABB 48-hour Film Fest, a part of the horror uber-convention Days of the Dead Chicago (November 15th-17th, Chicago Marriott Schaumburg, 50 N Martingale Road Schaumburg, Illinois 60173 USA). Natalie will be hosting the JABB Fest as well as appearing at Days of the Dead all weekend.
