Movie Review: Demon Divas and The Lanes of Damnation (Happy Cloud Pictures, 2010)

Reviewed by Kenny Barnwell

Written and Directed by Mike Watt

Starring Nikki McCrea, Sofiya Smirnova and a bunch of other people who will probably thank me for not mentioning their names in the review.

Plot~ 2 nerdy college girls work in a bowling alley that happens to be owned by 5 girls who happen to be.....Demon Divas. The nerdy girls are constantly picked on by a group of mean sorority chicks. Lisa (Nikki McCrea) has the hots for Johnny (Aaron Bernard) while her roomate Taffy (Sofiya Smirnova) just wants to be part of the sorority. Sorority girl Rochelle (Stephanie Bertoni) want Johnny for herself.

Yes, it's the classic love triangle they went with on this one. After the sorority girls dump milkshakes and ketchup on the 2 girls, Lisa makes a wish to get even and the Demon Divas are more then willing to oblige. Hokey carnage ensues......

This is probably one of the 3 best movies I've ever seen. Oh wait.......that was Star Wars. Where the hell was I? Oh yeah, Demon Divas.....

I am not personally up on all the movies made by Happy Cloud, and for that I am thankful. This one has the look and feel of a college freshman film project that had no adult supervision around to tell them that they'd be better off doing something else with their lives....anything else. A lot of random scenes with random dialog centered around cheesy jokes with bad punchlines. Horribly awkward bad acting abounds, so if that turns you on prepare to be severely stimulated.

From what I hear, there are about 10 billion people in the world, so the law of averages says that somewhere out there, someone is walking around who might like this movie. And if I ever found that person, I would probably punch him in the face.

Favorite part of the movie~ The end credit.....the sweet merciful end credits.

Features~ A short film called: The night we didnt discuss Myra Breckenridge. (more of the same emotional torture as above mentioned film) Behind the Scenes stuff (see above description) Audio commentary and trailer.

I could have given this movie a 2 but since they deprived me of my basic right to atleast one topless scene, I have banished it to the dungeon.
