Movie Review: Mr. Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical (2011)

Directed by Travis Campbell

Starring Tim Dax, Nicole Fiore and Vito Trigo

After screwing his wanna-be girlfriend Scarlette (Nicole Fiore) on a mattress in an abandoned warehouse, Mr. Bricks (Tim Dax) is shot in the head and left for dead by an assassin. When he awakens he finds Scarlette is gone and thus begins a search for her. Along the way he occasionally breaks into rage-filled song when he is not beating people over the head with a brick.

Movie Review: God Bless America (2012)

Back in the '80s, I watched a ton of goofy comedies. Let's face it, we all did. That was about half of what was thrown at us. A major staple of the era was the Police Academy series. I would never have guessed at that time that one day that Zed guy would be my favorite filmmaker. I can't think of another writer/director right now who makes movies that are as thought provoking as Bobcat Goldthwait. Yeah, Bobcat. The guy who used to scream and mumble all at once in movies and on stage. He's extremely creative, and after watching God Bless America, I'm already excited to see what he does next.

Joel Murray takes the lead for the first time as Frank, a guy with a gloomy life and a bad disposition toward the state of today's society. His daughter is a brat, his ex-wife is marrying a young attractive guy, he just got fired, he hates his neighbors and on top of it all, he finds out that he has a brain tumor that's going to kill him fairly soon. He holds a gun in his mouth as a sweet sixteen reality show plays on his television screen. After realizing that his own daughter is turning into this televised spoiled bitch, he decides to put his bullets to better use.

Movie Review: ASS Studios Presents: 4 Short Films by Courtney Fathom Sell & Reverend Jen (2011)

Directed by Courtney Fathom Sell

Starring Reverend Jen, Faceboy and Reina Terror

Not surprisingly, I had never heard of ASS studios before popping in this DVD. Nor had I heard of Courtney Fathom Sell or Reverend Jen, the studios founders and collaborators on this little collection of shorts. Ranging from 20 to about 8 minutes each, they run the entire gambit of weirdness, from the bizarre and disgusting (The Sinful Bitches), to the downright sexy and stimulating (The Bitches of Bowery), to the absurd and silly (Killer Unicorn) to the “Who's fucking idea was that?” (Elf Workout).

Movie Review: Grindhouse Collection: John Holmes Biggest & Best

The legendary supercock is back! In yet another collection from After Hours Cinema, John Curtis Holmes is featured in his early years probing just about anything he can get his massive appendage in. This time around you get to see four films - Strangers When We Mate, Bed Companions, My Tongue is Quick and Johnny's Sex Stories all from the After Hours Films archives.

In Strangers When We Mate, a group of seven total strangers meet up in some mansion in what looks to be California. A doctor therapist type (who looks like Gabe Kaplan from Welcome Back Kotter fame) encourages the seven horny folks to engage in both one-on-one. Holmes plays a cowboy with an accent thicker than his celebrated wang. The narration by the "doctor" is pretty funny on this one as are the performances, making Strangers When We Mate one of the better films on the set.

Movie Review: Kids Go to the Woods... Kids Get Dead (2009)

Directed by Michael Hall

Starring Leah Rudick, Andrew Waffenschmidt and Joseph Campellone

Woohoo! Now here's a movie that actually pays homage to the classic slasher’s of the 80‘s without coming off as cliche and routine. Sure, its got all the basic elements one would expect- horny teenagers(with bonus points for the lesbian couple), worthless cops, a crazed war vet and a gas-mask wearing killer, but this one is put together in the style of an old home-recorded VHS tape- complete with VHS static, fake commercials and even a horror-hostess, Miss. Candy Adams, (who's dressed like a 20 dollar hooker and spends a lot of time sucking on a Blow-pop). And what Kids go in the Woods has that most of its contemporaries don't is one simple thing....its got the “fun-factor”.

Movie Review: Coriolanus (2011)

Directed by Ralph Fiennes

Starring Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler and Brain Cox
Coriolanus is a film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy which goes by the same title. Its basically a centuries old tale which is retold in a modern setting of a ficticious geopolitical Roman Empire. Our main character, Coriolanus (Ralph Fiennes), is a hero of Rome and the states greatest and most feared military warrior. Although praised for his efforts in combat, he has a poor reputation amung the citizens, they dont like or trust him and he feels the same about everyone else. Eventually his extreme views ignite mass rioting in the streets. Manipulated and out-maneuvered by politicians and even his own mother Volumnia (played by Vanessa Redgrave), Coriolanus is eventually banished from Rome. Soon thereafter he offers his services to his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler), as he vows vengeance against the state which betrayed him. At Tullus’ side they quickly march towards Rome as Roman politicains scramble in an attempt to stop the eventual toppling of their empire by their own ex-patriot.

Movie Review: Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown (2008, Blu-ray, Cinevolve)

Howard Philips Lovecraft was quite a complex individual. Most brilliant people are. What H.P Lovecraft has provided in his writings for readers, current genre authors and filmmakers has been a journey into world like no other..his world. Cinevolve, the studio behind Cinema Head Cheese favorite, The Jesus Guy, have given the “Father of Cthulhu” a very welcome expose on the man called Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown.

Buy Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown on DVD

One of the first things that struck me in viewing Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown was the assemblage of talent brought on hand to give their thoughts on Lovecraft. John Carpenter (The Thing, In The Mouth of Madness), Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth), Neil Gaiman (Coraline), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, Dagon) and others give scholarly insight on Lovecraft's work. I was most impressed with Neil Gaiman, this guy seemed to bleed Lovecraft with the way he quotes passages from his stories. As someone whose dabbled sparingly in the written work of Lovecraft, seeing this enthusiasm gives me the sudden urge read all his stories.

Movie Review: Ground Zero (2010)

Directed by Channing Lowe

Starring Mike Langer, Sahna Foley and D.L. Walker

Two professional “cleaners” are hired to collect a frozen corpse located high in the mountains and dispose of it in an old warehouse, unaware the body belongs to political activist Darius, brutally assassinated by Nat-Tech Corporation after injecting himself with a deadly virus.

A swiftly-defrosting corpse in tow, they arrive at the warehouse to discover a couple more amateur cleaners sent by the boss to help in disposing of some additional bodies. Soon afterward, things begin to unravel, corpses spring to life, and the living start becoming infected by the now undead. Much to the angst of the lead cleaner Jarius (Mike Langer), instead of the place getting cleaned up, its becoming messier and bloodier by the minute. As the clock ticks down, its becoming less and less likely the cleaners will accomplish their job on time or even survive to see tomorrow.

Movie Review: 95 Miles to Go (2012)

Take two things I love, comedians and documentaries, and put them together to make me a happy guy. While there are many documentaries about comedians out there with no end in sight, I never get tired of them. They have been about Jerry Seinfeld, Lewis Black, Joan Rivers and the entire Boston comedy scene from the 1980s. While the trend is fairly new, 95 Miles to Go isn't on the bandwagon. In fact, it's actually quite a few years old, and it was made not long after Comedian. It follows Ray Romano and his longtime opener and friend, Tom Caltabiano, on a short tour through the South on a break between seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond, where Caltabiano was also a writer. After a run on HBO and a short break, the doc is finally available on DVD with a ton of extras.

Movie Review: Madison County (2011)

Directed by Eric England

Starring Katie Stegeman, Joanna Sotomura and Nick Principe

“Legend has it the rural area of Madison County has been the hunting ground of the country’s most ruthless serial killer of them all, the hog-masked Damien Ewell, who has never been caught. The locals claim he doesn't exist but a group of college kids is about to find out the truth when their quest for a missing author of a book about the crimes turns into a savage fight for survival.” Or at least, that's what the description on the box-cover says.

Movie Review: Django Kill... If You Live, Shoot! (Blu-ray)

When Sergio Corbucci’s fantastic Spaghetti western Django bursted on to the scene with its violent story about a quiet coffin- carrying, vengeance seeking mystery man called Django (Franco Nero – Keoma, Companeros). Standing out as top-notch entry in the genre, Django’s popularity fueled many sequels that include the film I’m reviewing today, Giulio Questi’s Django Kill!... If You Live, Shoot. There’s also a remake in the works, but I’ll leave that for another. The folks at Blue Underground released have now taken it upon themselves to release this very graphic and incredibly bizarre Pastaland delight.

Movie Review: The FP (2011, Blu-ray)

Directed by Brandon & Jason Trost

Starring Jason Trost, Lee Valmassy and Art Hsu

For far too long gamers have been shown no love or respect in the movies. Well, those days are now over thanks to the cold-blooded awesomeness of the Trost brothers and Image Entertainment’s new movie, The FP. A movie so bad that it is actually border-line genius.

In a dystopian future, a never-ending turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park (The FP) in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game “Beat-Beat Revelation.” After hometown hero BTRO is slain on the dance platform by thug leader L Dubba E (Lee Valmassy), His protege younger brother JTRO (Jason Trost) goes into isolation, chopping down trees in the mountains with a troupe of lumberjacks, vowing never to dance again. One year later The FP is in ruins, as the rival gang has not only taken control of the town but of its most precious resource, the liquor store, and is replacing the towns alcoholic life's-blood with meth and a wicked little pill known as Black Cock. Now JTRO must find the courage to return and restore order (as well as the liquor supply) in a ruthless battle for revenge that can only leave one man dancing.

Movie Review: Crack Whore (2012)

Since the late 80's, when I really busted my exploitation cherry, I've been big fan of the rape-revenge sub-genre. Movies like Meir Ziarchi's original I Spit on Your Grave, MS. 45 and of course Craven's original Last House on the Left put an indelible mark into the consciousness of my fragile 12 year-old mind. To me, of all the sub-genres within the cult film world the rape-revenge flick is also the toughest to defend – even if it’s a great piece of filmmaking. Naturally, comedy and rape hasn’t always been a go-to formula. Director Lance Polland and much of the same crew that made the hilarious Bloody Bloody Bible Camp are here to change that with a classy little diddy called Crack Whore.

Movie Review: Roger Corman's Cult Classics Triple Feature: The Lethal Ladies Collection (2011)

Starring Jeanne Bell, Jillian Kesner and Cheri Caffaro

Roger Corman fans, somebody out there loves you. And that somebody is the genius’s at Shoutfactory. They have restored and put together this awesome triple-feature just chalk-full of babes, boobs, sex and more karate chopping mayhem then you can shake a fighting staff at.

Welcome to the world of 70‘s-80‘s sexploitation at its finest, a world where everyone seems to be a martial arts expert and beautiful ladies are more then willing to make sweet love to you....right before killing you with a well placed roundhouse kick to the teeth.

Movie Review: Dead Man (1995, Blu-ray)

Directed by Jim Jarmusch

Starring Johnny Depp, Gary Farmer and Crispen Glover

A few of the things we have come to expect from the average Johnny Depp movie is plenty of eccentric characters, lots of wry humor and somewhat oddball story-lines. Depp stays true to form in that sense with Dead Man. At its core it's a western, with plenty of gun fights, cowboys, native Americans and gun-slinging bounty hunters. But Dead Man manages to separate itself from the genre within the first few minutes of the film, as it displays a dream-like quality to it that portrays a world that is slightly off-kilter and just plain old weird.

Silent Screams: The House of the Devil (1896)

The House of the Devil (Le Manoir de Diable) is considered to be the first horror film ever made. Until the existence of others are verified, though, George Melies' reigns supreme as the very beginning of horror cinema. Melies is a name that film buffs may recognize. He was the pioneering writer/director that tried his hand at all types of films but is most widely known for the first filmed foray into science fiction, A Trip to the Moon. We've all seen the iconic rocket in the eye of the moon-face as representative of early genre film, but, with a little careful investigation, it is Melies' contributions to the art of horror that are truly significant.

TV on DVD Review: Pawn Stars Vol. 4 (2012)

There’s no better example of today's pawnbrokers then the Harrison family’s Gold and Silver Pawn Shop located on the outskirts of Las Vegas - the modern day Mecca for people in need of quick cash. Three generations of Harrison men go into battle at the bargaining counter with a wide assortment of people looking to make big money off of their treasures. From classic cars, to samurai swords to old baseball cards. Here, everything has a history and everything has a price. And you never know whats going to come through the door next.

Pawn Stars Vol. 4 features 16 episodes never-before released on DVD, including a wide variety of oddball items that are haggled over like Colonel Sanders suit, a competition dragster race car and an Abraham Lincoln campaign ribbon.

Movie Review: Anatomy Of Hell (2004)

There are few filmmakers that I respect as much as John Waters. Waters has made a career of shocking people and when he refers to another movie as being "shocking", you have to take it seriously. The Pope of Trash is quoted on the back of the DVD for Catherine Breillat's, Anatomy Of Hell as saying " That's one effed-up film". Sold!! Breillat is no stranger to the tactic of evoking a response out of the audiences for her films. The director's films, Romance and Fat Girl pull no punches - so what does that leave in store for Anatomy of Hell, starring porn-king Rocco Sifferedi and Amira Casar? Can she possibly top either of those films?

Buy Anatomy Of Hell on DVD!

Based on the novel Pornocratie, Anatomy of Hell follows the relationship between a curious young woman (Amira Casar) who meets up with a stranger (Rocco Siffredi) at a nightclub. After fellating Rocco's massive junk in the parking lot of a club, she gives this mystery man an offer to come back to her house by the sea for four nights. What’s this lady thinking? Rocco’s destroyed more ass than Wal-Mart generic brand toilet paper. She’s definitely daring, if not out of her mind.

Movie Review: Division III: Football's Finest (2011)

Independent comedy can be tough to sit through. Occasionally you get a movie like Goon that surprises. I'm especially nervous about it when it stars a name comedian and still gets no traction. In this case, that might have more to do with the star's reputation than the content of the movie. I am an Andy Dick fan, and Division III can be added to the list of his best work.

We learn that Division III is at the bottom of the college football barrel. It's more BS than BCS.The Pullham University Bluecocks are not known for having a winning record at their level, so after the football coach suddenly dies, the school goes out on a limb and hires controversial coach Rick Vice (Andy Dick) to lead the team. He's controversial for one reason. He almost killed an entire kids' football team. Vice comes in with an anger and energy that pretty much terrifies the team. He especially seems to get to the backup quarterback, Mitch DePrima (played by director Marshall Cook). Trouble follows vice throughout the season and leads him from one horrifying situation into another.

TV on DVD Review: American Pickers Vol. 3 (2012)

HISTORY’s ratings record-breaker is finally back with an all-new installment! (and not a moment too soon in my opinion)

In small towns and along America’s back roads, treasures are waiting to be uncovered- valuable relics that are a part of this country’s history which are hidden in back yard junk piles, buried in hundred year old barns and stacked to the rafters in peoples garages. It takes experts to find them and turn rust into riches.

American Pickers follows two of the most skilled “pickers” on the planet- Mike Wolfe, the owner of Antique Archaeology, and his side-kick and business partner, Frank Fritz, as they hunt down objects with historical, collectable and pop culture value. Usually striking gold in the most unassuming of places.

Movie Review: A Serbian Film - Uncut Limited Edition (Invincible Pictures, 2010)

I'm a fan of A Serbian Film. Ok, I said it. I’ve even seen it more than once, which is something that you’re not supposed to do even if you’re an admirer of the film. So far I’ve checked out two different versions: The widely released unrated/censored version from Invincible Pictures and MVD Visual and now the limited uncut release that’s strictly distributed by the producers at Invincible Pictures. The Serbian Film in a lot of ways, whether you hate it or not, it will stand the test of time and be talked about 20 years from now. To me it’s important to see uncut, so here it is!

A little bit about the background of the plot - Milos (Syrdjan Toborovic) used to be the Eastern block's answer to John Holmes - hung like a horse and with an out of this world sex drive. Things changed drastically for Milos after the former pornstar starts a family and has a son with his love, Marija (Jelena Gavrilovic). The life of Milos as a porn king is no longer. Soon bills start to pile up, desperation sets in and our "family man" has to take a gig that's brought to his attention by former onscreen screw. This isn't quite what he's done in his other erotic films - it's much more dangerous and perverse.

Movie Review: W./E. (2011)

Many of us would roll our eyes at the thought of en entertainer jumping from one form of media to another, or from one job to another, such as when an actor directs. I certainly did when I saw Rhianna in the trailer for Battleship. Believe me, it wasn't the first time, and it won't be the last. It's unfair, really, considering all of the stars that have done a great job in different realms. Laugh if you will, but that list includes Bernie Mac, Ben Affleck, Fred Savage, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Weird Al Yankovic, Kevin Smith and countless others. The fact is that if someone is talented in one way, there is a great chance that person will have other talents. It's true that some people are only good at one thing, but I don't know if that's the case with Madonna. Her first movie, W./E., might be a good indication of things to come for her, but it's also an indication of what can happen when you take on too much at once.

Cinema Head Cheese: The Podcast! #50 - The Cliffhanger

They review Madonna's W./E., Plot of Fear and 95 Miles to Go. Dave talks about the upcoming DVD release of No Holds Barred, and the boys discuss the films of Bobcat Goldthwait in anticipation of his upcoming release God Bless America.

Jeff briefly discusses the passing of Ray Bradbury before signing off.

Inside the Whore Norwegian Exploitation Art Revealed!

From Cetus Productions: The official poster for Norwegian director Reinert Kiil's "Hora" ("The Whore") sequel "Inside The Whore" has finally been revealed. The film is scheduled for release in the fall 2012 by Scandinavian distributor Another World Entertainment who also released the original "Hora" in 2010. It is a very different film starring the director Reinert Kiil in the lead role surrounding himself with various Scandinavian actors such as Jørgen Langhelle ("The Thing", "Arn: The Knight Templar"), Vegar Hoel ("Dead Snow", "Tomme Tønner"), Viktoria Winge ("Cold Prey" & "Cold Prey 2"), Kim Sønderholm ("Blood Fare", "Toro Loco"), Dagrun Anholt, Big Brother-star Anette Young and adult stars Caroline Andersen and Isabel Vibe who also played the lead character in the original "Hora" film.

During the shooting of the sequel to Reinert Kiil's feature film HORA aka THE WHORE many mysterious things happened on the set. This is the story that SHOULD have been told…

While shooting the sequel to THE WHORE, director Reinert Kiil and the director of photography join forces in an effort to make the ugliest and most grotesque film ever made. During production outside Kvam in Bergen, the crew and actors notice that there is something weird and strange going on when friends and colleagues begin to die in brutal ways. The question is whether it is the Whore who has come to life looking for revenge or whether it's actually the director who gets his dream come true about making the most horrible movie ever.

Movie Review: Killer Nun (1979, Blu-Ray, Blue Underground)

Directed by Giulio Berruti
Starring Anita Ekberg, Paola Morra and Alida Valli
Run Time: 85 minutes

This weird little piece of retro Italian cinema comes to us compliments of director Giulio Berruti, who also brought us films like Kiss Me Kill Me (1973) and Baby Yaga, Devil Witch (1973), and falls into the oh-so-delicious genre known as Nunsploitation, which had its peak in Europe during the 1970‘s when people seemed to have a great fascination with nuns doing very naughty things.

Movie Review: C.C and Company (1970)

Directed by Seymour Robbie

Movie Review by Greg Goodsell

Need to get something done but don’t really want to do it? Have we got a movie for you! Take one overbearing, New York Jets quarterback who thinks he’s a lot more handsome and charismatic than he is (Joe Namath), a silver screen icon (Ann Margret) and add a slew of grindhouse and exploitation favorites – Big Bill Smith, Sid Haig, Greg Mullavey and Bruce Glover (Crispin’s dad) and make the cleanest most chaste biker exploitation film imaginable! You have just stumbled upon C. C. and Company, a cinematic curiosity that reminds you that you have an awful lot of ironing to do.

Movie Review: Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie (2012)

I can't wait for all of the hate mail and complaints I get for this one. I know, I know, alternative comedians can do no wrong. If I don't like something they do, I'm just stupid and I don't get it. They are the geniuses of all genius and should be revered as such. I should immediately bow down before I go get some skinny jeans, an ironic ALF t-shirt and Buddy Holly eyeglass frames. Sure, that could be the reality of the situation, but it's not. I do get it, and it just isn't funny. Here's the thing. I like "alternative" comedians. I like David Cross, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Sarah Silverman as stand-up comedians. I like Mr. Show, The Benson Interruption and Todd Margaret. I even liked King of Queens and Just Shoot Me, which featured some of the pillars of alt comedy. Sometimes, though, the comedians you love so much will do some shitty things. Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie was definitely one of those shitty things.

Movie Review: Shogun Assassin: 5-Film Blu-Ray Collector's Set (Blu-ray)

I've always been a huge fan of Shogun Assassin, so when the first film came out on Blu-ray from AnimEigo about two years ago, I was pretty overjoyed. AnimEigo has struck again and given some of the most popular films in samurai sub-genre the red-carpet treatment with a Blu-ray release of all five of the films from the groundbreaking Shogun Assassin series - Shogun Assassin (Original), Lightening Swords of Death, Slashing Blades of Carnage, Five Fistfuls of Gold and Cold Road to Hell.

Movie Review: Skew (2011)

When it comes to independent filmmaking, you really have to get creative. I suppose that's obvious, considering the fact that this is a creative medium, but I mean in how you put the movie together. One popular trick is to make the cameraman a character in the movie. This started with The Blair Witch Project, hit a bigger scale with Cloverfield, and was tweaked a little in Paranormal Activity. It's a nice cover for bad video quality and gives some leeway on sound and camera work. What it doesn't make up for is story. If the story is good, sometimes the rest doesn't matter. Skew takes the concept and still maintains film and sound quality and uses solid storytelling.

It starts out with three friends on their way to a wedding. There are Rich and Eva (a couple), and then there is Simon, who annoys the other two with his endless filming. Simon's girlfriend is supposed to go, but she bails. Things get weird for him when a motel clerk's face shows up blurry through the camera, and he is later killed.

Movie Review: Goon (2012)

Why, oh why do I love biopics so? While I do know that they are often factually imperfect, they're still a great way to learn a little about someone. I also think it has something to do with the fact that they are usually inspirational. I can almost always root for the main character. I can't tell you how much I rooted for Doug Glatt while watching Goon. Based on the biography of the same name by former minor league hockey player Doug Smith, Goon is not only inspirational, but fun and funny, and it builds your anticipation for an ending that anyone can predict and everyone can hope for.

Movie Review: The Red House (1947)

Directed by Delmer Daves

Starring Edward G. Robinson, Lon McCallister and Judith Anderson

When most people think of “film noir”, they think black and white crime dramas, chain-smoking  private detectives and mysterious beautiful women with scandalous intent. The Red House has none of these things but make no mistake, this is “film noir” of the highest caliber. A gripping murder-mystery where the cinematographer’s use of light and shadow are as important to the storytelling as the plot itself. Where the score sets the mood, tone and overall feel of every scene. This is the kind of movie that will simply sweep you off your feet and transport you to another time and place.

Movie Review: Sex Psychedelia Collection (2010)

Reviewed By Kenny B.

This weird little piece of “entertainment” is a four movie two disc set of extremely obscure early 70's psychedelic San Francisco bay area porn. Now there was some good porn coming from this region during this particular time, 1972's Behind the Green Door is the first to come to mind. These movies unfortunately don't come anywhere near that Mitchell brothers classic. These appear to be experimental films put together by the hippie sleazemeisters and film school castoffs that had way too much access to the cheap acid that flowed like water from the tap in that particular day. How and more importantly, why After Hours Cinema put this set together is just beyond my comprehension, but I suppose from a historical standpoint it might have some type of value.

Movie Review: Kitten with a Whip (1964)

Director: Douglas Heyes
Stars: Ann-Margret and John Forsythe

There simply isn't anything a movie can do to live up to a title like Kitten with a Whip, unless it actually starred Kitten Natividad and was directed by Russ Meyer. This one came from Universal in 1964 so no, it's not particularly exotic, being shot in black and white to boot. However it does star Ann-Margret as hell raising Jody Dvorak, who begins the film in a nightgown being chased by armed men with dogs. We don't know she's hell raising to begin with, as we're not given context to work from, but we're happy when she finds an apparently empty house and cuddles up in bed with a teddy bear. We still have sympathy when up and coming politician David Stratton comes home and discovers her. Jody has wild hair and in the light we see that the nightgown is torn. She even shows Stratton the long scratches on her back and runs through a wild yarn to explain it all. Only her wild attitude gives us pause to think there's something else behind her story.

Movie Review: Plot of Fear (1976)

Raro Video has unearthed yet another giallo unreleased in the United States from the director of the excellent Black Belly of the Tarantula, Paolo Cavara. Cavara’s 1976 thriller Plot of Fear boasts a cast of some fine Euro cult regulars such as John Steiner(Tenebre, Shock)  and even successful American actors like Tom Skerritt(Picket Fences) and Eli Wallach (The Good The Bad and The Ugly), so from an outsiders viewpoint it has to be somewhat decent.

Michele Placido plays Inspector Gaspare Lomenzo, a policeman investigating a series of violent murders that seem to be baffling the authorities. This particular killer also seems to get a kick out of leaving pictures on each victim from a story book.  Red herrings are sprinkled throughout, mainly that of some very horny, cartoon porn-loving guests at a really perverse party. This particular bash gets out of hand and a young woman is accidentally killed. It doesn't sop there,  even Wallach’s character Pietro Riccio is under the suspicion of investigators.
