In SNOW WHITE XXX: AN AXEL BRAUN PARODY, we find that Snow White has grown nicely into young adulthood. Her parents rule the land. Her father, the King, and her stepmother, the Queen. The Queen is the King's second wife, as his first wife died while giving birth to their daughter. Since then, the reign has continued, but not without jealousy and envy from the Queen, who always strives the be the most beautiful....the most powerful of all. For years she took comfort in the fact, that that her magic mirror had assured her that she was indeed "the fairest one of all". But as stepdaughter Snow White grew into a beautiful young lady, the mirror's opinion soon changed, to favor her, as the most beautiful. Something that truly enrages the Queen. Eventually, when she's had enough, she devises a plan, to both take over rule on her own, and to possess Snow White's undeniable youth and beauty. When her plan to kill her husband is successful(she oversexs him, with the help of 2 lovely Faes), she enlists the help of a Huntsman to kill her beautiful stepdaughter, and subsequently bring to her, Snow White's heart. However things don't go has planned, when the Huntsman, just can't follow through with it, due to his history with Snow White's mother. He fakes the deed by delivering to the Queen, a Boar's heart instead. And in the mean time, Snow White takes refuge in a small cabin the the woods, which is occupied by the 7 dwarf children of the deceased couple, whom built the home centuries ago. It is here, that young Snow White believes that she is safe and sound. However, little does she know that via the magic mirror, the evil Queen has been keeping a watchful eye on her, and looks to further her plan to get rid of her stepdaughter, once and for all. The Queen believes that she most certainly succeeds in doing so when, disgusted as an old hag, she convinces the fair lady, Snow White, to eat an apple, which has be poisoned. However, unfortunately for her, but fortunate for Snow White, she is soon rescued by a charming Prince, who sweeps her off of her feet. The couple soon marry, but as the film comes to a close, it is clear that the Queen's reign of terror, is far from over.
As promised, and as a result of the surprising success of my PETER PAN XXX review posted last week, I will be going back to look at, and review the other WICKED fairy tales, which have been written, directed and produced by Axel Braun. Today, I of course begin with the first fairy tale parody ever produced by Axel and WICKED; SNOW WHITE XXX: A PORN PARODY.
As he did with PETER PAN XXX, Braun, here, takes a well known story, and tweaks it, making the minor changes necessary, so that it will work within the realm of porn. "Snow White", is a character that was created by The Brothers Grimm, when the character first appeared in their collection of Grimm's Fairy Tales in 1812. Braun's story takes what we know from the existing story, makes some tweaks, and condenses a few details here and there, thus resulting in his own interpretation. As a whole, the film sometimes works, as the film has its standout moments. The film looks and feels great, and Jessica Drake is tremendous as the evil Queen, as is Riley Steele as the titular "Snow White". However in the end, you are left under the feeling that something is just missing here. Yes, while SNOW WHITE XXX does hit all of the high notes, as it has most of the key highlights of the classic tale in there somewhere, and in someway or another, it comes across collectively as having been processed just a little too quickly for it to be effective at its highest potential. And here is the part where I over analyze a porn film; call me crazy, but no dwarves? Now, yes I know this is a porn film, but stranger things have occurred in porn. While, in the film, Snow White makes several mentions of her dwarf friends, we never actually see them - as SNOW WHITE follows the same path which was taken by the SCOOBY DOO parody film(in which there was no "Scooby" - just his collar.). I know this was probably difficult, or whatever else, but maybe there could have been a little glimpse of dwarvisim seen on the Queen's mirror or something? I don't know. Just a thought.
Overall, technically, SNOW WHITE XXX is a very well made film, it is what we have come to expect over the years from Axel Braun. The film looks, and feels high end, and its storyline and characters are imaginative and well executed, and the sex scenes are of quality. Yet, I feel, as a plot driven parody it just feels a little bit rushed, as it never fully develops its story. However, with that said, I have no real complaints when it comes to the character acting in the film, as I feel everyone did great with their respective characters. First, I loved Jessica Drake as the evil Queen. She did good with her intimidation factor, as well as her element of sexual hunger. Opposite her, and quite the opposite of Drake's character itself, is our girl, Riley Steele, as the beautiful, but quiet "Snow White". At first, I wasn't quite sure how i'd take Riley with jet black hair, as she dons a wig in the film, but you know what? It really made her piercing blue eyes sparkle even more. She has such beautiful eyes, and the darker hair only makes that fact more apparent. She is endearingly cute as the character.
When it comes to the sex scenes, all are good - but I have one big complaint, and it will probably be the only time that I ever say that there is "too much Jessica Drake in a film". I love Jessica. She is fucking sexy, and the truth is that, here, none of her sex scenes are awful. But with the lack of other characters in the film, we see Jessica's character have sex in 3 of the film's 5 sex scenes. It all becomes a little repetitive in my opinion, as it left me wanting a little more, in terms of a variety.
Overall, although I did like this film for the most part, and felt that it was well accomplished, I left the film feeling only somewhat satisfied. Granted that, SNOW WHITE XXX: AN AXEL BRAUN PARODY was the first in the now continuing line of porn parodies from WICKED FAIRY TALES, so maybe everyone at the time was just testing the whole process out. Who knows? But if PETER PAN XXX is any indication, it would seem that the parodies have gotten better with each new release. But with that said, any Axel Braun picture is worth seeing for their creativity alone. This film is good, just not his best.
