FEARnet Goes Global With Its ‘Expedition Fear’ Friday Night Block Highlighting Genre Favorites From Around The World, And Featuring Exclusive Content From Fantastic Fest Starting October 18

While FEARnet has always made a point to highlight the best in worldwide genre titles, the Network is putting extra focus on overseas scares with the addition of the “Expedition FEAR” Friday night block—two international films, every week, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. “Expedition FEAR” entries in October showcase some of the best talent from around the world—topped off by celebrated [REC] creator Jaume Balagueró’s shocker TO LET on October 25—giving genre fans a chance to experience many foreign gems that they may have never seen or heard of before.

Beginning October 18, the films will come packaged with exclusive wraparound content—shot at the 2013 Fantastic Fest and made specifically for FEARnet—highlighting the best of the independent horror cinema scene. The interstitial content features roundtable discussions on topics such as a First-Time Directors panel with Evan Katz (CHEAP THRILLS) and Randy Moore (ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW); a Foreign Genre Films panel with Katrin Gebbe (NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN) and Tamae Garateguy (SHE WOLF); an American Independent Cinema panel with Joe Begos (ALMOST HUMAN) and James Bykrit (COHERENCE); an Indie vs. Mainstream panel with Jesse Cook (SEPTIC MAN) and Ben Wheatley (A FIELD IN ENGLAND); and a Film Critics and Bloggers panel where Sam Zimmerman (FANGORIA), Ryan Turek (DREAD CENTRAL), Brian Collins (BADASS DIGEST), and FEARnet’s own Lawrence Raffel, Sarah Shannon, and Alyse Wax discuss the films they saw at Fantastic Fest, and why the festival is important for both the genre and the audience. As a bonus, the Network will also air an exclusive one-on-one interview with Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League.

FEARnet Presents A "Reaper" Reunion Special

Hello everyone,

This is Jacob O'Neal from The Gorram Nerd Hour. Kevin Moyers had asked me to come over to Cinema Head Cheese to do a guest review for the blog. Knowing I am a huge fan of the short lived CW series Reaper he gave me the screener that was sent to him by the great folks at FEARnet. It started with a reunion special and then went into the pilot episode. The reunion special was roughly about a half hour and started with the four main cast members (Bret Harrison, Tyler Labine, Ray Wise & Rick Gonzalez) being interviewed about their time on the series. Later they were joined by Christine Willies, Ken Marino and the creators of the show Tara Butters & Michelle Fazakis.

What first struck me about this reunion was that each of the actors seemed to genuinely love their characters, miss the show and each other.  In fact, Ray Wise was dressed in a suit with one of the original neck ties from the show. Willies came out wearing horns and immediately began talking about her make out session with Labine on the show. Labine and Harrison both expressed their great love for the show and how the fans blamed them for why they didn't get a third season. The CW dragged their feet on renewing the show and each of those actors took pilots for new series. They also speculate as to whether that's the reason their other shows didn't do very well. Hell hath no fury like a Reaper fan scorned. Take that, Sons Of Tucson!

TV on DVD Review: Todd & The Book of Pure Evil: Season 2

Anyone that knows me knows that I love this series. Unfortunately, this was the second and final season to air on Canadian television. Thankfully, crowd funding allows for an animated feature to wrap up the story. That's right, we'll see an animated move that will bring us the final act of the amazing adventures of Todd, Jimmy, Atticus and the rest of the crew. Before that happens, let's get into a little bit of the second season.

I'll do my best to give you a rundown without many spoilers, because you can find this streaming or on DVD, and I really want you people to grab on to this series and soak it all in. Those of you that saw the first season, however, can read ahead and get just a little taste of what's in store for you. It's phenomenal.

 (SANTA MONICA, CA – APRIL 29, 2013) – FEARnet’s REAPER reunion special was shot on Wednesday, April 24, at the Medusa Lounge in Los Angeles. In attendance for the special—hosted by TV and web personality Angie Greenup—were series stars Ray Wise, Tyler Labine and Bret Harrison, as well as Rick Gonzalez, Ken Marino, Christine Willes and series creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas.

The reunion special will air on Tuesday, May 28, setting the stage for REAPER’s FEARnet debut on Tuesday, June 4, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, as part of the Network’s Twisted Comedy block, which also features the FEARnet original half-hour comedy series HOLLISTON. Additionally, the special will be available for viewing on the FEARnet website starting Friday, May 31st, and VOD on Saturday, June 1st. It will air again on the Network on Tuesday, June 4, at 8:30 p.m. ET. FEARnet has licensed both seasons of the hour-long series, for a complete 31 episode order.
