Eats and Drinks Review: Mountain Dew Spiked

Every so often, I run across a beverage that immediately grabs my attention. While looking for something to drink at a local Circle K, I noticed two new Mt. Dew varieties. First off, the cans say SPIKED in big letters, which immediately led me to think that Mt. Dew had entered the alcohol arena. I'm sure that confusion is something they were prepared for, because the cans are labeled as non-alcoholic beverages.

The two available varieties are lemonade and raspberry lemonade. Knowing Mt. Dew, I wouldn't be shocked to see more flavors in the future if these are successful.

I tried the raspberry first, and I was very surprised to get a nice smooth texture. It had the flavors you expect in this mixture without the sour that lemonade or raspberry bring, and without that syrupy quality that Mt. Dew can have. The regular lemonade was the same way. Both have a nice clean flavor and are very mild. I preferred the raspberry, but I wouldn't turn down either.

Drink Review: Mountain Dew Kickstart

Did you ever wake up in the morning and wish there was a way to have a huge jolt of caffeine without all the coffee breath? Did you ever think that Sunny Delight would be better if it increased your heart rate? Ever wish Tang would mix a little white powder in with the orange powder? Are you like me and wondering why Mountain Dew caught on to this idea a scant decade after Monster did it?

I'm a Mountain Dew drinker, because somehow that's just what white people do. It's in the DNA somewhere. In the last couple of years, the folks over at Pepsi have let the flavor monkeys run wild. Hell, they even let Dew drinkers pick what flavors would be manufactured on more than one occasion. There are exclusive flavors, like Taco Bell's Baja Blast or the Halo inspired Game Fuel. Honestly, outside of the Amp sugar-free lemonade, I haven't had a bad run-in with the folks over at Mountain Dew. Now, they want to enter the breakfast arena with two Kickstart flavors: Orange Citrus and Fruit Punch. I don't know how I feel about this, though I do consume a fair amount of coffee each day. Regardless, I had to give these a shot.

Eats & Drinks Review: Mountain Dew Game Fuel: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

With the excitement over the newest Call of Duty release, one of the attached promotional items seems to have been swept under the rug. I'm not a big gamer, and the only live television I usually watch is football, so I also tend to miss out on commercials. I don't know if this was ever advertised, but I ran across two new Mountain Dew flavors created for MW3 fans. These aren't the first in the Game Fuel series. Mountain Dew created two flavors dedicated to World of Warcraft awhile back, and those were pretty good. With the addition of new flavors so frequently, it can be hard to keep track of the Mountain Dew line.

Eats & Drinks Review: Redline Energy Drinks

I am riddled with caffeine. I must drink gallons of it per month in one form or another. I was told my ADHD makes me crave it. It could also have something to do with my usual lack of sleep, raising a two-year-old, or any number of things. One of my caffeine sources is the energy drink. Until a few years ago, the closest we came to an energy drink was Jolt Cola. I heard about Redline when it came out, but it was only available in a few places. Once it was widely available. I gave it a shot.

Buy Redline on Amazon.com

The first thing I noticed was the warning label. Yes, every energy drink contains one, but not like this. It wasn't the standard line about people sensitive to caffeine. This is the warning that should be on cocaine. When you buy your eight ounce bottle, it recommends that you drink only two ounces to start, and four ounces at the most. It also said not to drink more than one bottle per day. I saw that as a challenge, and I downed it in about three gulps.
