Eats & Drinks Review: Jack in the Box Bacon Shake

When I saw this little item in the Jack in the Box feed on Facebook, I initially thought someone was messing around. I figured there was no way that a popular fast food chain would do this. I wouldn't be surprised to find mom and pop places trying this out, but we ended up seeing this go mainstream.

I am an enormous fan of bacon. I've heard of  vanilla ice cream with bacon bits, and I've always been intrigued by the idea. A bacon shake is a natural progression for that. Within hours of my discovery, I had a large bacon milkshake in my posession.

At first sip, I could taste the interesting vanilla and bacon flavor mix. It was good. Sweet and salty go together very well. As I drank more, I noticed something. There were no bits of bacon. When you see a strip of bacon in the ad, you expect bits. I wanted that to nibble on while I drank. You get fruit chunks in a fruit milkshake, so why not bacon bits?

Overall, it's a good shake. I drank every bit of it, and I would gladly go back for more. Jack in the Box is offering the shake for a very limited time, but I guarantee that if it ends up being popular, they'll keep it on the menu for a long time.

Getting and staying healthy is a big deal in the United States. Apparently, it's starting to become an issue in Australia as well. Australian businessman Joe Cross is a guy who is overweight and out off shape, and he's ready to change that with a simple diet that consists purely of juice. He's looking to shed pounds and his medications. Joe suffers from an affliction that causes rashes all over his body. In his trek across America, the place he fell in love with food, he runs into Phil Staples, an obese truck driver who suffers from the same disease.

Movie Review: Food, Inc. (2009)

I held off on watching this movie for quite a long time. I already knew a decent amount about how disgusting our food is. A friend of mine told me once about his brother who worked for the company that supplied Taco Bell its meat. According to him, they use a processed F grade meat that's mixed with a caking agent that holds in all of the grease so that the food doesn't drip. That means you ingest every little drop of grease, and whatever the fuck it is that holds it together. Do you want to know what we were doing while he was telling me this? We were eating in a Taco Bell. No bullshit.

Eats & Drinks Review: Sun Drop Citrus Soda

We are told in science class that two thirds of a person is made up of water. I would estimate that I am made up of nearly eighty-seven percent caffeine. I need a boost quite often. I was never into cocaine or speed, so I go for the next best thing. For most of my generation, Mountain Dew tends to be the soda boost of choice. Of course, Jolt cola takes precedence if it rears its ugly can, but that should go without saying. As I perused the soda section today looking for something different, I came upon something called Sun Drop.

At first, I figured it would be another Sprite. I looked at the label where the caffeine content is now listed. I don't know if the government requires this, but if not, it's a brilliant marketing tactic. Anyway, Sun Drop actually had more caffeine than Mountain Dew. I decided to give it a shot. It's so new to this area that even the guy at the counter asked me how it was. I said I'd let him know.
