Movie Review: Bloody Bloody Bible Camp (2012)

I said it back when I reviewed The Frankenstein Syndrome, and I'll say it again. I don't pander. If a friend makes a movie that I don't like, I won't review it. I'd rather say nothing than lie. That being said, I was very excited to see our own David Hayes in Bloody Bloody Bible Camp. The cast includes Reggie Bannister, Ron Jeremy and Tim Sullivan, and that, plus the crazy title are all a horror fan really needs to get into a movie like this. As proud of this as Dave and director Vito Trabucco are, I knew it had to be good. Not only was it funny and ridiculously gory, it was a perfect love letter to classic slasher flicks.

Movie Review: Crack Whore (2012)

Since the late 80's, when I really busted my exploitation cherry, I've been big fan of the rape-revenge sub-genre. Movies like Meir Ziarchi's original I Spit on Your Grave, MS. 45 and of course Craven's original Last House on the Left put an indelible mark into the consciousness of my fragile 12 year-old mind. To me, of all the sub-genres within the cult film world the rape-revenge flick is also the toughest to defend – even if it’s a great piece of filmmaking. Naturally, comedy and rape hasn’t always been a go-to formula. Director Lance Polland and much of the same crew that made the hilarious Bloody Bloody Bible Camp are here to change that with a classy little diddy called Crack Whore.

Movie Review: Demon Kiss (2010)

Aaaah… Demon Kiss. Our fine friends over at Brain Damage Films never cease to amaze me. All in all, Demon Kiss is an entertaining little romp on how not to make a horror film, in many respects, but it understands what it is so completely, you can’t help but take a shine to the poor thing. Self-realization is a rarity in the schlock horror world. Guys in Des Moines with a Hi-8 camera fancy themselves Wes Craven, shooting the latest epic that will take the indie world by storm and if you don’t like it, well then, you just don’t get it! Demon Kiss, most certainly, does not have that issue. Bad acting? Yeah, but that happens when your producer/writer/star has to carry the weight of the film on her back. Bad camera work? Definitely. Focus is sometimes overrated, though. Bad art/make-up/effects/etc.? Undoubtedly, but that is just the name of the game. What Demon Kiss does have going for it, though, which makes me think that the filmmakers knew exactly what they were doing along the way, is the copious amounts of nudity. You don’t go longer than a minute or so until some other trashy woman is taking her clothes off. I would actually re-title this film Demon Labia, but no one asked me.

Interview: Writer/Director Vito Trabucco

Jeff Dolniak interviews writer/director Vito Trabucco about Bloody Bloody Bible Camp.

CHC: How did "Bloody Bloody Bible Camp" come about?

VT: ---BBBC came about 7 years ago after we finished our first film, B-Movie. The co-producer of that film, Shelby McIntyre and myself wanted to do a massacre film centered around religion, but in a comedic way. About 2 days later I get a call from him. All I hear on the other line is BLOODY-BLOODY-BIBLE-CAMP. I loved it! And I loved the fact we had a title and nothing else. So instead of making a poster, we had the first draft of the script done in about 3 weeks. After I moved to LA, Shelby stayed in Florida so we weren't sure if we were ever going to make it. Then about 2 years ago I was producing a film called Weak Species. That's where I met Christopher Maltauro who became our executive producer and the rest is history.
